Brief Bio
I am tenured Professor of Medicine at the University of Oslo and Gastroenterologist at Oslo University Hospital.
I am Associate Editor at Annals of Internal Medicine and chair of the Board for r
Research, Quality Assurance and Innovation of the Norwegian Medical Association.
I received my MD in 1996 from the University of Göttingen, Germany, and my PhD from the University of Oslo, Norway, in 2004. I am board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology.
My main clinical activities are in gastrointestinal endoscopy. My main research interests include clinical trials and clinical epidemiology. I am the principal investigator of several large-scale international trials with more than 300,000 patients in total.
I am the co-founder of the Clinical Effectiveness Research Group at the University of Oslo and Oslo University Hospital. The group is headed by co-founder Prof. Mette Kalager.
My colleagues and I at the Clinical Effectiveness Research Group design and run large-scale clinical trials and clinical epidemiology studies to advance patient care.
I am a holder of Research Grants from the European Union, the Norwegian Research Council, the Norwegian Cancer Society, the United European Gastroenterology Foundation, and others.
